CORNWALL BUILDINGS PRESERVATION TRUST

The Trust was formed in 1973 by Cornwall County Council  and the six district and borough councils as a charity and limited company with the objective to preserve and restore buildings of particular beauty or historic, architectural or constructional interest. The Trust operates in a similar way to other Building Preservation Trusts across the United Kingdom by buying or otherwise acquiring buildings, repairing and restoring, and then selling, leasing or otherwise disposing of buildings once completed. The Trust recycles any available funds into it's next project.

The Board of Trustees meets quarterly at County Hall in Truro to manage our projects, oversee the running of the Trust and the pursuit of our objectives. The Board comprises 2 nominated representatives from Cornwall Council, 3 nominated representatives from other groups with complimentary interests, and 10 ordinary members with a range of backgrounds allied to our objectives. The Trust currently has no executive but is supported in its operation by the Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer. The Trust receives a grant each year from Cornwall Council towards its operation.
